Pha That Luang
Pha That Luang or the Great Stupa is the spiritual heart of Laos. The famus golden stupa was constructed in 1566 until1641. This historical monument is considered to be the most important monument in Laos that is a symbol of Buddhist religion and Laos sovereignty. Based on local legend, there was a temple in the place dating back in 300 BC, and the Ashokan Missionaries from India put a that or stupa there to enclose a Buddha’s Breastbone in early 3rd century. The architecture for the site is heavily inflluenced by Buddhist religion. The stupa is 45-m high and surrounding by a-high way cloister with tiny windows. The cloisteri is measure 85-m on each side and contain various Budha Images, including the Great King Khmer Empire,Jayavarman VII that converted the state religion into Buddhism. The place is located in northeast of the capital city of Laos, Vientiane.
