Peranakan

This term explains inter-married children who adopt local culture in Malaysian Peninsular. Generally speaking, the term was also used to describe a number of ethnic and cultural group in Malaysia. However, now ‘Peranakan’ is strictly associated with Chinese descendants. The term Baba is an honorific term for Peranakan male whereas ‘Nyonya’ is for female.
