Japanese Invasion of Indonesia

In early 1942, the Japanese invaded Indonesia, trumping the combined American, British, Dutch and Australian military command that were also present. Whilst the Japanese treated western allied troops with extreme cruelty, the Japanese were initially received quite well by most Indonesians, who saw the Japanese as liberators, due to their animosity towards the Dutch colonial rule.
