Homo floriensis

In 2003, the partial skeleton of a small, apparently ancient hominid was discovered on the island of Flores and given the scientific name Homo floriensis. The discovery was met with controversy over whether it constituted an entirely new species or not. It would have stood at only 1.1 m (3.6 ft) tall.
