Water Festival

Thingyan, which means ‘transit’, is the mark of Myanmar New Year Festival as well as the joyous activity to enjoy during hot days in summer. The festival lasts for 4 days in the month of Tagu in Myanmar calendar that is usually in 13th of April. Water splashing is the core of Thingyan as it signifies the purification of souls. Similar festivities are also held in neighboring countries like Laos, Cambodia and Thailand.
